The Hunger Games Book Review

The Hunger Games Book Review - Suzanne Collins!

Phenomenal! I don't think any amount of words can do this book justice. It was flawless! Suzanne Collins has done an AMAZING job with this first installment of a promising trilogy!

The novel is written in first person (present tense) and the main protagonist is a 16 year old female.

Below is a summary of the novel (including my own synopsis) so even if the plot doesn't appeal to you at first, at least read my thoughts on the novel below!

In the not so distant future the remains of what was once the United States Of America is now divided into 12 districts, ruled over by the Capitol. The conditions and purpose of each district varies but as punishment for a past rebellion, each year all 12 districts have to give up 1 boy and 1 girl between the ages of 12 and 18 to "The Hunger Games". The children are selected by chance in a lottery. You follow the female protagonist, 16 year old Katniss Everdeen, as her sister is selected to participate in this inhumane game and she volunteers to take her place. The games are simple, kill or be killed. It's a fight to the death. All 24 children are forced into an arena (ranging from desert to forests) supplied with limited food and weapons to battle it out until there is only one survivor, and they shall be the victor.

I admit that was a severely lame summary of this novel, even the real blurb does the book no justice! It's so hard to sum up AWESOMENESS in a paragraph...

I can't explain how incredible this novel is. It sounds like a gruesome novel but it's far from that. The fighting (though a major aspect of the novel) is kept fairly clean as the novel is for 13 or 14+ (Can't remember which) though it appeals to the adult audience also. There are so many sub plots within this novel. There's family loyalties, loss, a love triangle, death, fighting, survival, comedy, fun, laughter, sadness! It's all here!

PLEASE give this book a go! I can honestly guarantee that you will enjoy it!

There is a movie out for this first installment but PLEASE read the book before the movie! (or if it's too late for that, read the book anyway!)
